Prvo na šta pomislim kad se pomene Subotica je – pesak. Jednom prilikom sam bila u gostima kod porodice koja živi u delu grada koji je na peščari. Divno i neobično iskustvo!
A druga stvar u vezi sa Suboticom, koja je mnogima verujem na prvom mestu, je naravno arhitektura ovog grada. I posebno, bogatstvo ukrasa na fasadama ovdašnjih zdanja...
Ali ovo nije čas istorije, ovo je izložba savremene likovne umetnosti, ili?
Da, ipak, ova izložba ima mnogo toga sa prošlošću, sa istorijom i sa memorijom.
Kao materijal za ovaj rad koristiću (koristićemo) mnogo peska i nešto malo istorije. U bazenu za pesak u samoj Palati Rajhl publika će moći da pravi svoje kompozicije uz pomoć modli za pesak koje su skinute sa keramičkih srca sa fasade same zgrade. Na taj način formiraće se oblici, ali oblici koji se samo uslovno mogu nazvati objektom – taj objekat je porozan – od peska, nestalan i promenjiv, podložan trenutnim potrebama... baš kao i istorija, baš kao i memorija, zar ne?
Iz „mora“ poznate i nepoznate istorije Subotice, za ovu priliku ja izvlačim priču o stolaru koji se odvažio da prijavi građevinske malverzacije arhitekte Rajhla pre nešto više od sto godina.*
Ne zaboravimo, mi danas jesmo u zdanju koje je sagradio i osmislio talentovani arhitekta, ali smo tu svakako zahvaljujući ljudima poput Lajoša Crnjakovića, ljudima koji nisu trpeli nepravdu... U uspomenu na njegov hrabri čin, pozivam Subotičane da se „isprljaju” praveći Palatu Lajoša Crnjakovića i otvarajući novi prostor za svoju aktivnu memoriju.
* Kata Martinović-Cvijin, Subotički opus Ferenca Rajhla: „Prilikom izgradnje kasarne, jedan stolar je podneo prijavu protiv Rajhla ministru unutrašnjih poslova Kalmanu Selu, jer u gradu nije ništa mogao preduzeti protiv njega. Prema navodima u ovoj prijavi, Rajhl i Molcer su izigrali finansijere te su umesto kvalitetne, za to predviđene drvene građe, u podove kasarne ugradili truli materijal koji Rajhl nije mogao da iskoristi u svojoj fabrici cigala. Stolar navodi: ’Veliki župan Endre Šmaus je Rajhlov venčani kum, a kod gradonačelnika je on postao večiti stanovnik jer je već i svoje ime zlatnim slovima ugravirao na vrata gradonačelnikove novoizgrađene palate. Ko sme u Subotici podneti prijavu za ovakvu prevaru malog kalibra?’ Rajhl je oslobođen optužbe, a stolar Lajoš Crnjaković je osuđen zbog klevete.”
